I'M Nikki! MOM, dog lover, PHOTOGRAPHER, AND FRIEND
Hey y’all! I’m Nikki and I’m the girl behind the lens. I drink way too much Dr. Pepper, I think my rescue beagle is my first-born child, I could literally live off Chick-fil-A and Firehouse subs, I trip in tennis shoes but have perfect balance in heels (being 5’3 I have a lot of practice in heels), I’m in LOVE with old cities with history like Savannah, and I’ll bleed black and red (go dawgs) until the day I die. Although, I’ve shot some incredible portraits at Georgia Tech. I believe that magic is real and Harry Potter is my favorite!! My playlist goes from Dean Martin to Coolio to New Kids on the Block so if you ever get in the car with me, prepare for musical whiplash. I hate waking up before 9am, I collect coffee mugs and vintage cameras, and I could waste an entire day in a good antique store or book store.
As for my photography journey, while photography has always been something I love, I always had this little voice in my head that told me I wasn’t good enough to actually DO it, to be responsible and get a “big girl job” because only the best of the best can make a living being a photographer. So that’s exactly what I did and it was great. I loved my job and I was perfectly content working there forever until I found out that I was pregnant. My husband and I always planned on having a family down the road but it was a total shock when our hypothetical scenario years into the distant future became our right-now-reality. Our plan, when we thought our plan mattered at all, was for me to stay home and raise our children while he continued to work full time and I would reenter the workforce when our children were older. Since we were young and hardly had what I would consider careers, we needed both incomes. Knowing I’d have to work through our child’s younger years devastated me but I knew it had to be done. Well real life happens the way that it does and I just could not bring myself to go to work after she was born and believe me — I tried!
Fast forward through months of struggle, stretching one income to cover everything, and I get a call from a former coworker asking me to photograph her upcoming wedding. I was terrified, but I took this as a sign that this is what I was meant to do so I jumped in with both feet and zero idea what I was doing. I read every article I could find, stalked super talented photographers and artists online, and took a million awful photos but I was determined to put in the work and make this a career. And now, here I am years later, doing what I love and serving people the best way I can.
“WE LOVED WORKING WITH NIKKI! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN AND SHE HAS SUCH A GREAT PERSONALITY. SHE MADE IT ALL VERY NATURAL AND IT REALLY SHOWED IN THE PICTURES! I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH!”
"Callie is sweeter than sweet! She captured our day just the way we had hoped! Every photo is beautiful, and we are so thrilled!"
"I recommend Callie to every engaged couple I know! She is a gifted wedding photographer through and through! We couldn't be happier or more excited!"
